Bell 412

When the LIFE FORCE program began in 1988, the first aircraft was a Bell 412SP. The aircraft had four blades and two engines and weighed approximately 11,900 pounds. It's top flight speed was two miles per minute or roughly 140 MPH. The aircraft could hold 356 gallons of Jet A fuel. It was 56 feet long and had to ability to carry two patients on board, three flight crew members, and two pilots.


The original 412 was retired from the program in 2009. It is currently being used as an air medical helicopter in Japan.
